The rendering process involves applying a composition of cement, lime and fine sand to either external or internal walls, creating either a textured or smooth finish, depending on your requirements. Colour rendering is also becoming very popular, providing properties with a bright wash of colour, with finishes potentially lasting up to ten years if applied by a team of professionals.

It isn’t recommended to try rendering a property yourself unless you have the necessary skills and experience, because it takes time and expertise to ensure a smooth finish.
Generally, rendering doesn’t require planning permission, but if you live in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a conservation area, a World Heritage site or a National Park, it would be wise to get in touch with your local planning authority before carrying out any work.
