Rendering

Wall Rendering

The rendering process involves applying a composition of cement, lime and fine sand to either external or internal walls, creating either a textured or smooth finish, depending on your requirements. The main reasons people choose to render their properties are either to make the building look more attractive or to protect the walls from the elements and rainwater penetration.

Colour rendering is also becoming very popular, providing properties with a bright wash of colour, with finishes potentially lasting up to ten years if applied by a team of professionals.

It isn’t recommended to try rendering a property yourself unless you have the necessary skills and experience, because it takes time and expertise to ensure a smooth finish.

Generally, rendering doesn’t require planning permission, but if you live in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a conservation area, a World Heritage site or a National Park, it would be wise to get in touch with your local planning authority before carrying out any work.
